Reviewing very single indie show on Youtube

I'm going to try at least🥲

But I just want to say before we get into it... My personal taste changes pretty much every day, and I tend to have phases of favorite things, so sometimes a truly wondrous show won't spark any feeling from me, and then I'll watch it a month later and become obsessed with it. (Atlas in the Stars did that for me).

Therefore, I'm not going to be super critical with any of these. In fact, I'll probably be screaming about most of these BECUASE HOLY HERBS THEY"RE SO GOOD

Also, I tend to focus on characters and storytelling more than anything else, also I might not review so much as rave about something, you've been warned.

Here's the playlist where's I'm collecting Indie shows like the dragon I am, and I'll be reviewing these in no particular order:

DRIVE THRU

Technically not listed as an INdie show... BUT I WANT TO COUNT OC PROJECTS AS WELL I LOVE THEM SO MUCH

THIS CHANGED MY BRAIN CHEMISTRY

The way it goes from shitposting to stabbing me with a salt knife in under four minutes is diabolical storytelling. Absolutely amazing. I thought about nothing else but these characters and their tragedy for days on end and the song used is still stuck in my head and this got me obsessed with space tragedies again.

Space tragedies are peak everyone.

(ALSO THE THEMES OF NEVER LIVING OUT YOUR DREAMS AND ONLY REALIZING AND FULLY COMPREHENDING THAT IN ANOTHER LIFE WERE YOU CAHNGESD SOMETHING SIMPLE, THAT COULD"VE BEEN THE LIFE YOU DIDN'T REGRET WHEN DEATH ARRIVES TO CLAIM YOU. THAT THEME. GETS ME EVERY SINGLE TIME)

Also, the art style, the way it's so expressive and sketchy, the posing, THE FRICKING HAND HOLDING

I do think this is part of a larger OC project, and this is an origin story of sorts? If so, I CANNOT WAIT I NEED MORE OF THEM I NEED THEIR STORY TATOOED ON MY NEURONS


Studio Wishbone Pilot Concepts (2/3)

SO this studio will create three pilot concepts, pick the one that has the best reception, and make that into a full pilot.

WHICH IS DIABOLICAL BECAUSE THEY ALSO HAVE THIS:

HOW I AM SUPPOSED TO CHOSE BETWEEN DREAMWALKING LUCID DREAMING MULTIMEDIA YURI AND BIOLOGY ASTRONAUGHTS WITH A DISASTER WIZARD?!

THEY"RE BOTH SO GOOD I CAN-

I think I like Mirage slightly more. Because I personally prefer more spacey dreamy stories with a more ~ emotionally gut-wrenching storyline ~

Yet as I write this, I think about how much I love biology (as in I read research papers for funzies) and space (it vibes), and for whichever one gets chosen, I'll hold a funeral for the other two.

Mirage has a dreamwalker that collects things from people's dreams and is a chronic hoarder and there seems to be a force threatening them all thoug-

I HIGHLY recommend checking out the 'making of' shorts. The music for Mirage is supposed to sound like a dreamy waltz? Lucia's design being based off Bolivian skater girls? The creator of Microcosmos saying they want to put the disaster wizard into perilous, traumatic situations? PLEASE I WANT THEM ALL.

Mirage in particular sent me on a writing frenzy. (For when I eventually publish my book - Sitara's Wish) and Microcosmos... tiny astronauts in biology... a crew of sillies... I wish I thought of it. (Still gave me inspiration for my biology time travel story though.... I say... it still has barely anything but I'LL FINISH MY BIOLOGY YURI SOME DAY)

I'll add my thoughts on the next Studio WIshbone pilot concept once it comes out. I know these weren't super coherent, but vibes and the character concepts have absolutely sold me so far.

If you get to this point and feel like... huh? This isn't a lot of shows- I"M WORKING ON IT :) <3

I'll be editing previous reviews and adding more as often as I'm able to... and because this is my own little website and email lists are the best no-algorithm way of letting you know...
