Link Click Headcannons

(Note - found a document from around two years ago with old link click rambling so I decided to post it here since my tumblr got deleted)

Anywho, I headcannon Lu Guang would complete things for CXS, talk for CXS if CXS is extremely upset and detaches from the world (like he does post-s1ep5)

specifically my brain has the image of CXS holding Lu Guang’s hand as Lu Guang stomps off to yell at someone for saying something mean to CXS

Headcannon that Cheng Xiaoshi has a lot of little skills from his dives. Accounting from Emma and Wu Xia (along with noodles in particular and yes CXS is canonically the one who does all the cooking. The question is… did he know how to do that since the beginning or was this a recent hyperfixation after ep 2? If this is a recent hyperfixation then them surviving on instant noodles before CXS all of a sudden becomes a cooking master in an adhd frenzy would be hilarious.)

ree

Anywho rant, so cartoons from Doudou, trauma from Li tianxi and Chen Xiao…

but here’s the thing.

Whatever little skills Cheng Xiaoshi has, they are only a small fraction of expertise that the client had. @celestialsun123 had the idea that CXS could do the water bill very well but has no idea how to do the rest of the paperwork and such.

So someone who doesn’t know him would see CXS masterfully doing a hyper specific thing, think he knows what he’s doing, when in actuality that’s ALL he knows how to do and knows nothing about the rest of the skill.

Shenanigans ensue.

Random (Queer Platonic) shiguang scenario #4

Cheng Xiaoshi used to learn the piano with his parents, and after his parents left, he fell out of practice.

Lu Guang offers to teach him because of course he knows the piano (although he’s rusty at it from a few years of not practicing and secretly starts practicing again because of course he does.)

the first song Lu Guang teaches CXS is the lullaby that CXS’s mom used to sing him.

… yea so anyways this was fun to imagine until I sobbed.

ree

Headcannon that when CXS was little he wanted to be a chef because… you know, food. After his parents left he decided he wanted to be a photographer, since his parents were photographers. So Cheng Xiaoshi knows a lot about photography and such, but not any of the technical terms (photography is so hard) like aperture or exposure. He more so takes photos and develops them based on feeling and instinct, since he grew up with it.

ree

When Lu Guang becomes Cheng Xiaoshi’s business partner, CXS tries to teach him about photography… in his own way. Lu Guang understood none of it, so he read a book in secret. CXS kinda knows, but they both pretend that Cheng Xiaoshi taught Lu Guang.

(but overall, in the show itself, Cheng Xioashi is the one who develops and takes photos, and Lu Guang keeps the cameras and other equipment organized and clean.)

This is more of a headcannon than an analysis… but I have evidence nontheless!

Cheng Xiaoshi hyperanalyzes people because he turns his (adhd) observance to other people to try to figure them out as soon as possible. he does this because everyone else wrote him off immediately after his parents left, and CXS utilizes that same tendency to figure out how to navigate around other people/who will and won’t leave him.

Most evidence lies in season one episode 10 and 11, where CXS figures out how to manipulate Liu Min into the photo studio.

ree

Along with season two… episode 2 or three.. maybe four…um. (Is it obvious I’m finallyy rewatching season two whereas I’ve rewatched season one like… 6 times?) CXS figures out that Li Tianchen’s power relates to photographs because he said ‘also’. (ONE WORD. HE FIGURED THAT OUT FROM ONE WORD)

The other part of this headcannon is that CXS begins to take ‘mental photographs’, meaning that he’ll try to keep moment’s he cherishes in his memory for as long as possible. (He doesn’t take photos constantly because his parents took all the photos with them. He doesn’t trust photos to stay, but they still symbolize the past he wishes to keep and save.)

Does this mean he get’s social cues? Nope.

ree

But he’ll notice people’s base personality and be able to make conclusions from there, and adapt that into a plan, as well as remembering specific details.

(such as the Chibi short where he notices Qiao Ling is upset from her phone scrolling speed alone.)

OKAY final part of the headcannon/theory.

So Cheng Xiaoshi can sort out people pretty quickly, but Lu Guang is a mystery to him. A good mystery, it’s fun to learn about his habits and quirks, but a mystery nonetheless.
