At some point I should make a large lore/character explanation document. For now, Kamari's a magnolia - faer tree is planted in a forest of wild trees. This causes issues, one of which is Kamari's extremely short roots. They're around the size of a sapling and it makes faer look obviously different.
(Now I think short curly hair is the prettiest/handsomest/most aesthetic/I-will-start-staring-and-aesthetic-crushing hairstyle one can have, along with long curly hair and curly hair ohmigo-)
Roots are different than hair though. Roots are the most sensitive part of a dryad's body, especially the roots' ends. (The bases are sturdier. This is based on tree science! wowow.) Dryads typically style their roots so that the ends are tucked away.
Kamari does not because faer short roots can't be styled - hence this little comic thing. Anuli is a similar story: faer roots are short, being full on curls. Ankh leaves faer roots out - although fae brushes them back - for faer own reasons. It's not normal though. Most dryads have medium-length, bushy, straight roots, mimicking the root systems of most trees - wide, shallow, around three times the diameter of the canopy (If I remember correctly 😥).
Aisfa and Nali both style their roots with the ends tucked in. (I'll have character documents eventualllyyyyy)
Sitara uses a wrap for faer roots... in fact I should make a separate post about that.
aaaaaa I melt for characters taking care of each others hair/roots in this context
